Kevin Nee - World's Strongest Man Competitor
Height: 6 '2"
Date of Birth: 8/21/1985
Hometown: Hopedale MA
Events: 5 Time World's Strongest Man Competitor
In terms of sheer size and strength, at 6'2" and a lean 305 lbs, Kevin Nee is impressive. Yet, what's really impressive is what he's accomplished in the world of strongman competition at just 24 years of age. Nee is considered a top-ranked competitor in the World's Strongest Man competition and is the youngest man ever to compete in the event. He has also become the youngest American to ever be ranked top ten in the world, with his 8th place ranking in 2007 Met-rx World's Strongest Man contest. He's widely regarded in both the United States and abroad as "next," and has received his degree in Supply Chain Management from Arizona State University.
Nee is a passionate adventure athlete, whose remarkable accomplishments have been featured on several media outlets, including: ESPN, Fox Sports Net, MTV, Versus Network, Outdoor Channel and other networks. He has been featured in national and international publications such as: Men's Fitness, Sports Illustrated, The Boston Globe and Kulturystyka, a Polish fitness magazine.
As one of the "Top 25 Fittest Men in the World" as featured in the June/July 2007 issue of Men's Fitness Magazine, Nee is an example for all athletes. The list is comprised of men who over the past year have "harnessed the physical, mental and spiritual stamina needed to beat the odds, overcome obstacles, school their rivals and set personal bests to elevate their game to the next level," according to the article. The list includes Tom Brady, Andy Roddick and Kobe Bryant.
While making appearances, competing and training, Nee's future in the strongman world looks bright as one of World's best dead lifters at 903 pounds, a strongman world record. Despite bicep tears and reconstructive surgeries in 2008 and again in 2009, Kevin bounced back from what many consider career altering injuries only to compete months later and qualify for and compete at World's Strongest Man both years. With under a half a season of competition and training in both 2008 and 2009 Kevin still nearly qualified for top 10 placements despite his clear disadvantage in comparison to competitors who were able to train and compete year round and serves as a true testament to Kevin's dedication, ability, and impenetrable strength. As he prepares for the 2010 World's Strongest Man Season, the premier event in strength athletics for nearly 30 years, Nee will be making appearances nationally as well as globally. Upcoming show dates include: Fit Expo in LA, Mohegan Sun in Connecticut, World's Strongest Man Experience in London, Strongman Champion League in Ireland, and other US and international shows.
Nee was born in Hopedale, Massachusetts, and currently resides and trains in Phoenix, Arizona. He is focused on helping others learn proper training techniques for success, and is also involved in the development of a signature line of supplements and other various forms of strength athletic paraphernalia and puts his business degree to good use through his own company, Kevin Nee Enterprises, which umbrellas a variety of ventures. In addition to Kevin's work in the strongman world, he is a fixture in the community, as he lends his name and voice to a variety of worthy causes, one of them being EVERYMILE Foundation , which aims to encourage children and family to participate in outdoor and athletic/healthy activities. Kevin is a strong advocate for education, pancreatic cancer research, youth sports, and local police and fire. He has provided his story and services to all of these causes, among others, in a constant effort to give back and share his strength.
